Welcome to Thardferr

Now that you have some information about Thardferr, you might either want to learn more about the world itself by looking at its history, political system, map, races, gods, economy and current guilds, which you can access from the World Details page. You might also want to register either as a player or as a DM, but please note that you cannot register both as a DM and as a player. The reason for this is that if you are a DM, you will be given an access to information that is unknown to normal players, and having it would spoil the quests you are playing as a player. Before proceeding to the registration, you might want to read the following instructions:
Players: If you choose to be a player, your first mission will be to create a character and the first step in creating it will be to choose his statistics (please note that we use a special unique method for character creation, you can learn more about this at the Character creation page where everything is clearly explained). Once you have your character statistics (strength, constitution, dexterity, intelligence, wisdom and charisma) as well as a few perks and flaw if you choosed to use any, you are ready to choose your character race, one important thing about your race is that all your racial adjustements are made after you choosed your statistics and paid your points for them (a [-1] modification will not give you more points and a [+1] modification will not cost anything).

Once you have a race and your character statistics, you are ready to choose his class. Please note that all PHB classes are used as well as Thardferr's custom Blademaster. In addition to this custom class, the Specialty Priests found within the Gods Section are usable for play as well. The Blademaster class was created by Abakar, while the Specialty Priests were created by a collective effort of Thardferrians and DM Kluu. Please make sure you have the right race and the right minimum requirements for your class.

The next step is to choose your proficiencies, both weapon and non-weapon. You get the number of proficiencies depending on your class and your intelligence bonus. Again, only the PHB proficiencies are being used and all rules regarding their costs are respected, so you will have to pay more for non-weapon proficiencies not for your class and will not be able to choose prohibited weapons depending on the profession your character chose. You can finally choose the languages your character will be able to speak. There are very few commomly spoken races in Thardferr, but those are given in the registration page. Note that your race will give you a free language which is your mother tongue. Keep in mind that additional languages cost non-weapon proficiencies slots, so you might want to save some points for them.

It is now time to choose your attributes to make your character more unique, and for this you will have to choose your heigth, weight and age. Again we respect the PHB for these areas for the starting ranges so if you are creating a human, the PHB tells you that your age is 15+1d4 (so if you create a human you will have to choose an age between 16 and 19), and the same system is used for height and weight.

You are almost done now, all you have to do is to choose your sex and alignment (making sure it fits with your class). Now you can give your character a personality and look by creating his background and physical description. This might not seem very important, but it actually is for role-playing purposes. If you were looking for a hack-and-bash game, then the online gaming might not be the place to go, so you might want to give your character some personality.

It is highly suggested that you create a copy of your character information while filling in the form since it will allow you to save a lot of time (this is because when you change information other fields might be erased for security purposes). You can find a link to the registration sheet by scrolling down to the bottom of this page. After registering your character, you should receive an automatic reply (if you entered a valid e-mail adress) which includes a small message as well as the information you entered for your character. You will then have to wait (normally 2-3 days) for a reply from the Site Administrators (please note that we will not bother replying if you send 4 or more requests in a row). On the mail we will send you, you will get a login password to access the players' page.

Once you are officially registered (received a reply from the Site Admin) and you are given an access to the players' page, you can start looking for a group (look below to find how). The thing is, the online gaming is played like any other normal AD&D games, so you need a group and a DM. Once you have a group, you can start looking for a DM, this might be the hardest part in the online gaming since there are very few DMs and a lot of players, but if you have a group and really want to play, you will find one.

More information about how games work are given in the different forums which you can access once you are registered (linked from the players' page) as well as from the non-registered forums (even if they are non-registered forums, you should keep in mind that many registered players still frequently look at it, some even more than once a day, so communicating with registered players is not only possible, but assured on these forums, you should check it too when you get registered). Talking about forums, you should keep in mind that they are the base of the gaming concept, they are where you have to go to find a group, where you can ask your questions, get more information, discuss with other players, role-playing with different people, spread rumors, get people to join a guild you want to start, find a DM, leanr about new stuff hapenning and dirrectly affecting your games and a lot more. There are only two non-registered forums, but you get the acces to a lot more as you register, and as I said above, they are very important to check often.

DM Even if you want to be a DM, it is highly suggested that you read the player information given above. Also it is said previously, you cannot be a DM and a player so you will have to choose. A DM is a very important member of the online gaming since they are those who dirrect and create the games. If you plan to become a DM, it is very important that you know a lot about the world, you will be given a lot more information than the players (a lot of documents to read, but do not worry, they are really fun to read, a DM using the name Sage Locknar made many of them and he is really skilled at writing, look at the history for a sample of his work).

It is very important that you respect the information given there since it could imbalance the world a lot. For example, in Thardferr, magic is prohibited (look at history for more information on that) so if you allow your players to cast spells as the wish and give them many magical items, then if they change group they will be imbalanced and might even be rejected or even deleted. You will also be introduced to a DM code of conduct, a very formal name for something very simple and only asking you to respect others. You can find a link to the registration form (and a presentaton page) below.
Both When playing, most players and DMs use a program called OpenRPG. Keep in mind, though, it was not designed by DD Online, so it is used to play any RPG and by anyone. For more information on OpenRPG and the other platforms availble for gameplay, look to the Starting Info section.
